Dental EOB extraction reads a dental Explanation of Benefits—paper, PDF, or scan—and turns it into structured data: patient, member ID, provider, claim number, date of service, procedure (CDT) codes, billed, allowed, write-off, plan-paid and patient-responsibility amounts, denial codes, and the check total. Argus extracts these fields with AI and verifies them with exact-decimal math before anything is posted.

Does Argus work with Open Dental?

Yes. Argus is built specifically for Open Dental. After extraction and auditing, a person reviews the results and posts reviewed, balanced payments into Open Dental. Nothing is written to Open Dental until a human explicitly approves it.

What EOB file formats does Argus support?

Argus accepts PDFs (including scanned PDFs), images such as PNG and JPG, and pasted text for AI extraction. Structured 835 / ERA files take a separate deterministic parsing path rather than AI extraction.

How does Argus handle denied claims and denial codes?

Argus captures adjustment and denial reason codes during extraction, so denied lines are visible during review alongside the billed, allowed, write-off, plan-paid, and patient-responsibility amounts for each service line.

How accurate is the EOB extraction?

Extraction is probabilistic, so Argus does not trust it blindly.
